Baked Brown Beans

We like to “doctor up” our brown beans.  This is a simple dish, but by adding a few simple ingredients to canned pork and beans while slow cooking them, makes them extra special!

(this image is before baking… it became very dark brown and was a lot thicker once slow cooked)

Ingredients:

3 lbs canned pork & beans (Van Camps)
1/2 large Onion
1 lb. ground Beef (80/20)
1/2 C Molasses
1/2 Cup crumbled Bacon (I use Real Kirkland brand in a package)
2 Garlic cloves
1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
Salt & Pepper to taste

This is a very easy dish to assemble.  Start by browning the hamburger with the chopped onion until cooked through.
Drain any access fat and then add crumbled bacon and crushed garlic.  Cook another couple of minutes until bacon is soft and garlic is cooked.


Combine all other ingredients and pour into baking dish that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.

Bake covered at 300 for about two hours until thick and delicious!
